Hilal began at a single loom in Karachi, in the first years of Pakistan. Silk became the family's vocation — woven slowly, dyed carefully, and passed from hand to hand.

Over the decades the looms multiplied, and the name Hilal came to mean something in the city: silk for the most important days, made with patience that cannot be rushed.
